Ownership change marks an exciting new chapter

MOLLY MAID UK, the leader in the high growth domestic cleaning industry, has recently become 100% UK-owned. Long-time President of MOLLY MAID in Canada and the United Kingdom, Kevin Hipkins, recently led a management buyout of the company’s UK operation marking the start of an exciting new chapter for the MOLLY MAID brand and organisation in the UK.

MOLLY MAID will now operate under a master license agreement from MOLLY MAID International in Canada.  Founded in a suburb of Toronto, Ontario in 1979, MOLLY MAID has gone on to expand to the United States, Japan and Portugal and now has over 500 Franchises operating world-wide, cleaning over 3 million homes annually.

The domestic cleaning industry in the UK is estimated to be in excess of £9 billion and growing. It was this potential, along with the opportunity to build on the industry leading MOLLY MAID brand, that Hipkins says were the deciding factors to purchase the business from the Canadian parent, of which Hipkins was also an owner.  “Opportunities like this don’t come along very often and when they do you have to take full advantage of them.  The MOLLY MAID brand is definitively the most well-known in our industry and when you combine this with our great team of Franchise Owners as well as our team at our Support Office in Maidenhead, we are extremely well positioned to seize more of this £9 billion market.  To say that we are excited about the future would be an understatement.”

Kelly Blackmore-Lee of The British Franchise Association, the leading voice for ethical franchising in the United Kingdom, gave her full support for the buyout adding, “We look forward to seeing MOLLY MAID go from strength to strength with this change in ownership – their track record of success speaks for itself and we are delighted that the business will now be 100% UK-owned.”

Pam Bader, OBE and CEO of MOLLY MAID UK as well as a past Chair of The British Franchise Association, remains an active force in the company and a Board member.  Pam is a recognised leader in franchising in the UK and a recipient of numerous awards and distinctions.  MOLLY MAID is also pleased to announce that Vice-President Jonathan Holden will be joining the Board as well.
