Mapperley Local Waves Goodbye to Household Chores for an Entire Year
Local lady, Helen Wayte from Mapperley in Nottingham, can put the hoover and the mop bucket to one side after she won a competition to have her housework done for a year.
Helen, who works as a Web Search Evaluator, was randomly selected from thousands of entrants as the winner of family bedding brand, Slumberdown’s #WinHousework competition.
Entrants were asked to explain what they would do with the extra time they would gain, without having to do mind-numbing household chores. Helen told Slumberdown she would invest more time in starting up her own dream sewing business, in which she would give tutorials and share project ideas, as well as starting her own shop for sewing supplies and patterns.
Helen can now switch her attention to pursuing her sewing passion, winning 50 weekly house cleans and 2 deep spring cleans throughout the year from Molly Maid.
Slumberdown launched the competition as part of its mission to encourage families in the UK to spend more quality time together in the comfort of their own home, and less time on laborious household chores.
Helen said: “I can’t quite believe I’ve won such an amazing prize. I only came across it when I was searching for pillows online and saw it on the Slumberdown website.
“I absolutely hate cleaning the bathroom, it definitely takes up the most time when I’m cleaning the house. Now I have someone else doing it for me, I can really focus on starting my new sewing business which has been a dream for many years, but I just haven’t been able to find the time to do it.”
Sally Hotchin, brand manager at Slumberdown said: “At Slumberdown we’re all about embracing life’s special, spontaneous moments of fun.
“We know how much housework can really get in the way of quality family time, which is why we launched this competition to give someone the opportunity to spend more time having fun, and in Helen’s case, pursuing her dream!”
