In the Bag: How to Pack Delicious Lunches

In the Bag: How to Pack Delicious Lunches

Does everyone in your family take lunch with them during the week? Here are great suggestions for making lunch at school or in the office a wonderful thing!

No Soggy Lunches – Ever!

Make sandwiches that will maintain their freshness no matter what you put on the inside. To prevent soggy bread, pack condiments, sauces, dressing and spices, in small separate (reusable) containers. Then, they can be added just before lunch is eaten.

Sharing is Fun – And Tasty!

In the office, suggest a potluck lunch once or twice a month with workmates. It’s a wonderful way to bring variety to the lunch hour. Alternatively, once a week each of you can take turns to make lunch for everyone. For kids, pack several snacks, not just one, and suggest your child share. After all, sharing is caring!

Variety is the Spice of Life.

Get creative. For example, pack grilled food for a tasty change. Wrap up grilled vegetables such as aubergine, courgette, and onions in one package and two thick pieces of bread in another – for a make-your-own sandwich.

If Kids want Chips, try these!

There are healthier varieties of chips available now. Look for chips that are roasted, not fried, and that are made from vegetables, bagels or even beans! Mix some of your favorites together and pack them in a zip pouch to work.

Thermal Surprise.

Chicken noodle soup is a classic lunch in a thermos, as is leftover chili. But why not surprise kids or your spouse with something completely different – think Thai lemon grass soup or spiced chai tea. It’s all healthy alternatives for a little something special.

Texture Town

Add crunch to soups, salads and sandwiches. For grown-up palettes, try a creamy Brie cheese with sliced apples on raisin bread or pack roasted red peppers, sliced tomato and a small container of cream cheese with a few slices of French baguette. Kids usually like familiar foods such as pretzels or cracker sticks with peanut butter, bread sticks with cheese spread, tortilla chips with salsa or carrots and celery with humus.

Pack a Green Lunch.

The Green Cleaning experts at MOLLY MAID remind you to use re-useable packaging and containers for lunches and to pack cloth napkins if possible.
