Easter Sunday Sweet Treats

Why not celebrate Easter with some Easter themed sweet treats from the traditional cake to more novelty based treats, for all to enjoy over this family time?

The domestic cleaning company, MOLLY MAID, say that Easter doesn’t have to be just about giant chocolate Easter eggs, but that Easter Sunday can be celebrated with other sweet treats symbolising the new life such as some of the following:

• White Easter bunny biscuits using shortbread pastry and white icing and mini white marshmallows coated with desiccated coconut to give the impression of a white fluffy bunny tail! The children will love making these.

• Using shredded wheat (the cereal) ask the children to make chocolate nests mixing up melted chocolate with the cereal, or golden syrup to create nests decorated with mini eggs for an easy, but delicious Easter sweet treat.

• Decorated with mini eggs and edible primroses, make a traditional Easter cake called a ‘Simnel cake’, which is a light fruit cake, similar to a Christmas cake, covered in marzipan, and eaten at Easter. 

• Garden carrot chocolate cupcakes are a pleasure to the eye and they are simple. Just make some chocolate cupcakes as normal, cut out a circular hole in the centre and leaving the hulls on the strawberries, dip them in orange dyed white chocolate and once dry, rest over the hole to look like they are sprouting from the earth.

• Fill mini mason jars with jelly beans, mini eggs and fried egg jelly sweets and place in front of every place setting at the lunch table.

• Create colourful jelly Easter eggs using a set of plastic egg moulds and a syringe to layer up the colours with different flavoured jellys. Do make sure that you allow 10-15mins in the fridge between colours to gently set and then a good 4 hours in the fridge when complete. This could look particularly effective with a large jelly chicken as a centre piece lying on bed of chopped up lime jelly surrounded with an assortment of colourful jelly eggs.
