Eco-friendly cleaning materials

Now that MOLLY MAID, the professional domestic cleaners, have convinced you that using eco-friendly cleaning ingredients can tackle even the hardest of grime and dirt (see our last blog), why not try replacing some of your usual cleaning materials with some eco-friendly ones?

Using cleaning cloths that dry quickly and that can be washed in the washing machine, will give you not only a really clean cloth to start your cleaning with, but will also be far more hygienic. No doubt, you’ve found that your cleaning cloths tend to smell mouldy after a couple of days of sitting around. So here are some top tips on switching some of your existing materials to eco-friendly ones:

  • Replace all dish cloths with microfiber cleaning cloths which are now readily available in supermarkets. These not only have a multi-purpose function in so far as they are gentle enough to be used as a duster, as well as tackling some of the more challenging of surfaces, but can also be easily washed. You may find that using e-cloths are also a good alternative as they profess to have anti-bacterial qualities and only require to be used with water.
  • Replace all traditional floor mops with a microfibre style 3 in one swivel head mop. This is the epitome of eco-friendly cleaning. These can be used for dusting wooden floors without the need to make them wet (as dust particles attach themselves to the microfiber), or can be used to scrub or simply to wet-mop floors in kitchens and bathrooms. The pads are simple to attach and can be removed in between mops to rinse out in a sink without needing a clumsy bucket filled with cleaning detergent. Again, these pads can be washed in the washing machine and dry very quickly indeed meaning that stinky floors mops are a thing of the past.
