MOLLY MAID Continues to Enjoy Record Growth

July 2022, Maidenhead, Berkshire

Molly Maid, the most well-known name in the UK’s £3 billion housecleaning industry, today reported their year-to-date results through the end of June and the company continues to enjoy a year of record growth.  Total sales at their 94 franchised locations increased 27% compared to 2021 with its 700 domestic cleaners performing over 125,000 cleanings in the period.  President & CEO Kevin Hipkins, a 30-year veteran of the industry, says that record demand for its cleaning services is fueling this increase and despite headwinds in the economy, there is little indication that this demand is subsiding.

“The growth that our Franchisees are experiencing this year in the UK is the highest that Molly Maid has seen in our almost 40-year history, and this includes the other countries where Molly Maid operates including Canada and the United States.  We’ve seen hundreds if not thousands of cleaners leave the industry because of the pandemic and Brexit, and all of the customers who they were cleaning still want their home cleaned”, says Hipkins.  “We saw signs of this coming out of the pandemic in late 2020 but from Spring 2021 it has increased significantly.”

In the second quarter the company launched is ‘Best Employer’ campaign highlighting the leading employment practices their Franchisees follow.  In an industry that has in the past been dominated by employers and homeowners paying wages that are below the living wage, when including things like travel time, Molly Maid prides itself in providing wages that are above the living wage, paid company vehicles, paid training and pension contributions.  “Our Franchisees are hands down the best employers in the industry and we are so proud of everything they do, to not only provide great service to customers but a safe, caring and rewarding working environment for their teams.”

The company was also recently recognised with their third straight 5-Star Franchisee Satisfaction Award.  The award given by Workbuzz and done in conjunction with the British Franchise Association (BFA), recognises leading Franchisors like Molly Maid who have a culture of continuous improvement in supporting their Franchisees.  “It’s something that we are really proud of because the award is based on ratings and feedback by your Franchisees.”

Molly Maid was started in Canada in 1978 and in addition to the United Kingdom, operates in Canada, the United States, Portugal and Japan.  The company is a leading voice in Franchising and through its instantly recognizable brand and pink and blue colours, has become the leader in the UK’s £3 billion and growing domestic cleaning industry.  For more information contact Marketing Manager Kanika Srivastava, ksrivastava@mollymaid.co.uk.
