Best Tips To Maintain Your Holiday Let COVID Free

Now that restrictions have been lifted, you may be looking at reopening your holiday let for the summer. However, with numbers still rising, there is still a lot to consider including how to keep your property COVID free and safe for your guests. PASCUK (Professional Association of Self Caterers) have created some useful cleaning guidelines to get you started.

Here at Molly Maid, we have also come up with some top summer cleaning tips to keep your holiday let safe during the pandemic and beyond.

Stock up on sanitiser

You can clean the property as many times as you want, some of your guests may still want to sanitise areas themselves. So, make sure to always have a supply of sanitiser in the property so your guests can help themselves whenever they want. This is an easy win and will help you guests feel more comfortable.

Declutter

You may want your holiday let to look cosy and homely, but during this pandemic the less clutter the better. All those little ornaments, fake flowers and trinkets are the perfect place for dust, dirt, and bacteria to settle. So, make sure you declutter the property. This will not only make it look more spacious but will also make summer cleaning so much easier.

If you provide kid’s toys, consider throwing away (or recycling if you can) the ones that can’t be easily sanitised. Plastic toys are great to keep around as they can be wiped down and disinfected easily.

Remove teas and coffees

If you often leave coffee or tea for the new guests, you may want to reconsider this. Instead, leave individual sealed packets of the teas and coffees you would usually provide.

Provide travel size toiletries

If you provide toiletries, consider using travel size bottles which can be exchanged for fresh, sealed ones for each new guest.  Ensure that the packaging is fully recyclable.

Leave time in between guests for a deep summer clean

You may want to have back-to-back bookings this summer, but with COVID still around it is important you give yourself time between each booking to do a deep summer clean. Make sure all surfaces are thoroughly cleaned, all floors vacuumed and polished, and all bathrooms and kitchens disinfected. All surfaces should be disinfected including windowsills, kitchen sides and tables.

By conducting a deep clean in between visits you can reassure your guests you care about their health and wellbeing.  This is one of our most important summer cleaning tips.

Air out the property after each guest leaves

This is one of the easiest summer cleaning tips, but also a very effective one. Once your guests have left and all the rubbish has been removed, throw open all the windows, strip off all the bedding and let the house air out. This will not only remove any musty or stale odours but will help reduce the spread of COVID as any viral droplets will be dispersed in the air. Airing out properties combined with cleaning is a great step to helping to protect your guests.
