Our History

The very first MOLLY MAID clean was carried out in 1979 in Mississauga, Ontario, by Adrienne and Chris Stringer. The Stringers believed that busy families and homeowners would rather spend time on more enjoyable pursuits than cleaning their home.

It didn’t take long for MOLLY MAID to become a household name in Mississauga and the surrounding area. One reason was thanks to our easily identifiable pink and blue corporate colours, used on our cars and uniforms. Even today many people know MOLLY MAID by these distinctive colours, as well as by our commitment to providing the highest quality house cleaning service possible.

Since 1979, MOLLY MAID has expanded across Canada into the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan and Portugal. This year, MOLLY MAID staff will perform more than 2 million cleans worldwide. We’re proud of our history and of Adrienne and Chris for starting what has now become one of the UK’s most successful companies and endearing brands.

Meet The Team

Unlike some other domestic cleaning companies, MOLLY MAID staff are fully insured, fidelity guaranteed and reference-checked. They all receive comprehensive training before they start, and are re-trained and quality checked regularly.

MOLLY MAID employs friendly domestic cleaning staff who work in teams of two – a Route Manager and an assistant – and supply all domestic cleaning products and equipment. The Route Manager will perform a quality check before leaving the home, and if the customer is present, they will also be invited to join the inspection to ensure they are satisfied and the clean meets the high standards expected and upheld by MOLLY MAID.

If your regular maid team is ill or on holiday, a replacement team will be sent to perform the clean to the same high standard to ensure you do not miss a clean on your specified cleaning day.

All maid teams drive branded cars and wear distinctive, recognisable, MOLLY MAID uniforms; there is no question your home is in safe and professional hands.

Executive Team

President & Chairman MOLLY MAID UK Ltd – Kevin Hipkins

In a MOLLY MAID career spanning almost 25 years, including more than ten as the President of MOLLY MAID International in Canada as well as an owner of the company, to say that Kevin bleeds our trademark colours of pink and blue would be an understatement.  With previous jobs in finance and management training & consulting, a call from the Chairman of MOLLY MAID Jim MacKenzie, who spotted a combination of passion, business smarts and desire to succeed, launched what Kevin says has been the best career move he has ever made.

With a degree in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business, Kevin loves nothing more than rolling up the sleeves of his pink shirts and planning how to make MOLLY MAID better.  With a talented team of Franchise Owners and equally talented team at ‘Support Office’ (in most companies this is probably more commonly referred to as Head Office), he has helped MOLLY MAID grow throughout Canada and the UK and in doing so has helped to make the MOLLY MAID brand the most well known in the maid service industry.  He would be the first to say that the success of MOLLY MAID is down to everyone but him, and it is this modest, people and team oriented outlook that helps as much as anything to explain what Kevin values most – the success of the people in MOLLY MAID.

While he has been part of the ownership group of MOLLY MAID for some time, in July 2015 he seized an opportunity to increase his ownership of MOLLY MAID in the UK to 100%.  Although still a Board Member of the Canadian company that gave birth to what MOLLY MAID is today, his focus is now solely leading MOLLY MAID UK.  He is the father of two young girls, a self-confessed kayak nut and active walker of their family dog (you can probably guess her name, it starts with an ‘M’).  Although he dislikes titles, when pressed on his own he says it is ‘Chief Experience Officer’.  “It is the positive experience that our customers and our Franchise Owners have that is the most important thing to me.”

Ex-Chief Executive Officer MOLLY MAID UK Ltd – Pam Bader OBE

Pam Bader began her work life as a nursery nurse and boutique owner before becoming chief executive, pioneer and inspiration behind MOLLY MAID UK.

In 1995, she was awarded an OBE in recognition of her services to training and became the first woman to be elected chairman of the British Franchise Association and is still closely involved in the organisation. Pam became a Freeman of the City of London in 1996, and the following year accepted an invitation to become a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

She was appointed to the board of MOLLY MAID UK on its formation in 2002 as a wholly owned subsidiary of MOLLY MAID International Inc.

Board of Directors MOLLY MAID UK Ltd  – Jim MacKenzie

Jim MacKenzie sits on the Board of Directors for MOLLY MAID UK Ltd. Jim, along with MOLLY MAID founders, Adrienne and Chris Stringer, identified the potential in the domestic cleaning industry in Canada, and established the systems that have helped to distinguish MOLLY MAID as the leading domestic cleaning brand in Canada and now the UK.

Today, Jim uses his many years of business experience and knowledge to help Franchise Owners grow their business and continually improve the MOLLY MAID customer experience. Described as focused, amusing, passionate and sincere, Jim has infused MOLLY MAID with his own brand of energetic leadership, vision and spirit.

Graduating from Queen’s University in 1967 with a Bachelor in Business Administration (BA), Jim began his career in accounting, later transferring to take a sales and marketing position in a leading consumer packaged goods’ company. From there, Jim moved to a senior role, leading product development for an international consumer product company, before leaving to establish the MOLLY MAID business system and brand.
